The Twelve Days of Wine | Holiday Shopping Guide for the Wine Lover

If you find yourself looking for gift suggestions for the oenophile, here are some suggestions for the wine lover in your life. I am not affiliated with any of these products and we don’t sell any of them on our site; these are all items I use and love. We offer many wines from one-of-a-kind Virginia vineyards, so check out our selection if you want to go straight to the source.

At-home wine accessories for the wine lover

1) Hi-tech bottle opener

I started my work life as a waitress with a plastic corkscrew so I must say, this automated wine bottle opener is fabulous. It is the one sitting on our counter. You just set it on top of the bottle and voila! No more cork in your wine. You can check it out on wineenthusiast.com.

2) Personalized sippy cups

I am getting these for my boating friends – no one likes to spill when the water gets rough. Plus, they are insulated and will keep your white wine cool. The stainless steel does not impact the taste of the wine (unlike yucky canned wine!). The most reasonable version i’ve found is from personalcreations.com

Yeti and Corksicle are the brand name version of these cups. They are pricier and I guess only time will tell if they last longer. I was very excited about the personalization for my friends though.

3) Wine Preserver

For the serious, wine drinker, Nicole recommends the Coravin to keep open bottles of wine fresh. You can open a bottle without really opening it, meaning you can have a glass of your high priced and hard to find wines without drinking all at once or ever in the same month:

Coravin - they’re running large deals right now, 47% off over the holidays on some models. Also on Amazon

4) Champagne stop

If you really can’t finish that bubbly New Year’s Eve and want to save it for morning mimosas, this will preserve the effervescence: Champagne stop.

5) Box wine dispenser

For that friend that insists on drinking box wines, this looks a tad classier on the counter. You might want to buy your friend a bottle of wine too. Photo and product from Uncommon Goods online.

6) Ways to keep wine cool, especially when on a trip or a picnic

This is not the exact bag I have, but I use my bag like this frequently to transport wine to a picnic and keep an open bottle cool at a winery while you enjoy a glass. You can get it at Bed Bath & Beyond (don’t forget that 20% discount they always give you) and they carry it at Amazon as well (not a paid sponsor).

7) Wine Gems

If you have ever been tempted to throw ice cubes into your wine glass, please consider these wine gems instead! Unlike ice cubes, they won’t melt and dilute your wine: Tippy Creek Winery sells them, and so does Amazon for the same price (again, not a sponsor). The pink gems are so cute with a Rose!

8) SOS socks

I like to wear these on a chilly night near the fire. I think my husband has only followed instructions once but I will take that! This one’s on Amazon.

8) Rescue dogs and drink wine

My other passion is dog rescue; I keep rescuing and now have 3 dogs. When you buy products from this company, it helps feed shelter dogs. So indulge and do a good deed as well. Help the pups on I Heart Dogs.

9) Wine Stain remover

Keep a wine stain remover on hand for those inevitable spills. Enough said!

10) Travel Protection

My son tried to bring wine home in his checked baggage. It did not end well, because he did not have these protective cases.

WineSkin has a huge amount of options and seems to be one of the least expensive providers, and they give a good bit of money to charity. Check it out! Or if you prefer, on Amazon.

These also work well. I have used these to take home a bottle of wine we had not finished while traveling. We also filled them for a cruise (you’re usually allowed to bring on a bottle each) so we did not have to travel with glass bottles. You can find it out on Ecovessel and Amazon.
